Evanescence Records and Mixes New Album in Los Angeles

Evanescence recorded their sophomore album, The Open Door, in Los Angeles at The Record Plant in early 2006 and mixed the album at Ocean Way Studios in March 2006. Dave Fortman, whose credits include Mudvayne and Bif Naked, produced the project. The album is due to be released by Wind-Up Records on October 3, 2006.

Several songs include a choir, as well as strings that were recorded in an old chapel.

“The making of this record has been really intense, but I’ve come out feeling purified,” says Amy Lee (vocals, piano). “I’ve grown so much since [debut album] Fallen, and Terry [Balsamo, guitar] is the perfect writing partner. I feel like I’ve been lifted up to a whole new level of inspiration and possibilities.”

Evanescence also includes John LeCompt (guitar), Will Boyd (bass) and Rocky Gray (drums).
