Following two years of jetting around the globe to get signatures for each
of the 41 keys on the first CMI keyboard made, Fairlight has launched a live
private auction of the unit on eBay. Following a week of bids, the CMI will
be sold at a gala fundraiser in New York on December 11, with all proceeds
to benefit Witness, a nonprofit founded by Peter Gabriel in the early ’90s
to document human rights abuses. Signatures on the keys include Stevie
Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Bono, Brian Wilson, Peter Gabriel and countless
