Marx Hooks Up with Gold Digger

Nashville-based session guitarist Kerry Marx recently added Radial Engineering's Gold Digger four-channel microphone selector to his studio set up.

Vancouver, BC (June 26, 2013)—Nashville-based session guitarist Kerry Marx recently added Radial Engineering’s Gold Digger four-channel microphone selector to his studio set up.

The Gold Digger allows a user to quickly compare the sound of four different microphones while sharing the same preamp. “Right now, there’s a Shure SM57, Royer 121, Sennheiser 421 and 906 plugged into my Gold Digger. Add those up and you’ve got instant access to four different mic sounds, totally transparent and level controlled,” says Marx. “It’s become the centerpiece of my electric rig.”

As staff guitarist for the Grand Ole Opry since 2000, Marx will play with between 10 and 15 artists per week. In his studio, he works on composing and producing. “It’s mostly custom projects, jingles, some demos, and TV. I’ve done the Academy of Country Music Awards and American Music Awards at home for years, as well as others,” he says.

Marx’s work can be heard on shows everywhere, from Hannah Montana, The Miss America Pageant and a host of reality TV series, including Toddlers and Tiaras, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and American Idol. His commercial jingles have contributed to spots including Honda, Eveready batteries and John Deere.

A long time Radial user, Marx uses two of the pedals from the Tonebone line-the Hot British and the Classic, while his wife, Catherine—also a professional musician, playing keyboard for several country artists including Reba McEntire—keeps a ProD2 in studio for her vintage Wurlitzer.
