SHEILA E. SURPRISES AND ROCKS OAKLAND 150TH ANNIVERSARY

Shelia E. returned to her hometown of Oakland, Calif., to play — and bang on the drums — in front of City Hall as part of the city’s 150th anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 4. Her father, Pete Escovedo, kicked off the live music, and Shelia E. came out as a surprise guest during the set. The Escovedos were ecstatically welcomed by a crowd of several thousand revelers.

Sound was provided by Swanson Sound of Oakland; Michael J. Beyl mixed the show. Powering the event were an Allen & Heath GL2200 console, Sennheiser Evolution Series wireless mics, TA2000-CF monitors from Bag End, QSC PLX 2400 monitor amps and a Mackie Fussion house speaker system.
