Orpheus Converts Mac

UK producer Steve Mac has purchased a Prism Sound Orpheus FireWire computer interface for his main studio.

Brighton, UK (May 19, 2011)–UK producer Steve Mac has purchased a Prism Sound Orpheus FireWire computer interface for his main studio.

Since installing Orpheus, Mac has used it on numerous albums including Roots for DJ and producer Nic Fancuillis’ Saved Records.

Mac’s first foray into House music began in 1990 when he met his production partner, Rob Chetcuti, and the two went on to form the production/DJ duo, The Rhythm Masters.

Now working solo as a producer, Mac is usually to be found in Brighton, Sussex, where he has his own recording studio. “I’m running a vintage MCI console with lots of outboard including Neve 1073s, Pultecs, Urei compressors, LA2s, SSL, Lexicon reverbs and an Eventide 8000,” he says. “I also have lots of vintage analogue synths, a big Genelec monitoring system and even a Studer A80 tape machine. I have many converters in my chain, but I use the Prism Sound Orpheus to record into because I love the sound of this machine.”

Mac says of Orpheus, “I use it for all my recording because it has a great punch and holds all of the frequencies of the recording. I also love the soft limit feature–I just clip it slightly on the master recording and it adds all the warmth you need on a pre master. The trick is to use it very gently and not overcook it–if you do that the results are amazing. The Prism Sound Orpheus is, without doubt, my favorite converter.”
