Tube-Tech Gets Cookin’

Carolyn Martin's “Cookin' With Carolyn,” recently named 2011 Best Western Swing Album by the Western Music Association, was produced at Java Jive Studio by her husband Dave Martin who used Tube Tech compressors extensively throughout the project.

Nashville, TN (December 22, 2011)—Carolyn Martin’s Cookin’ With Carolyn, recently named 2011 Best Western Swing Album by the Western Music Association, was produced at Java Jive Studio by her husband Dave Martin who used Tube Tech compressors extensively throughout the project.

Dave owns Java Jive Studio in Nashville and is a producer, recording engineer and bass player who has worked with groups as diverse as Fisk University’s Jubilee Singers to the award-winning Old Crow Medicine Show. In addition, he is also a freelance writer with hundreds of published articles and reviews related to music and audio production. Dave’s first book, Mixing the Hits Of Country, was released by Hal Leonard Publishing in 2009.

“We used the Tube Tech CL-1Bs on quite a few things; I have three of them, so on the tracking sessions for the album, I used one for Carolyn’s vocals, one for my upright bass and one on the fiddle microphone,” says Martin. “CL-1Bs are really the only piece of outboard equipment I’ll use on every single session; I’ve got a lot of compressors here at Java Jive, but the Tube-Techs always get plugged in first.”

Carolyn Martin was named as the 2008 and the 2010 Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists. Her CD, Swing was a nominee for the Western Music Association Western Swing Album of the Year and as named as one of the Top 10 western swing albums of the year by DJs around the world. Carolyn’s latest project, Cookin’ With Carolyn, was nominated by the WMA as both the Western Swing Album of the Year and the Album of the Year, and Carolyn was nominated for the Outstanding Female Vocalist award by the WMA. In May, 2011, Carolyn was inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall Of Fame.
