A Kickball quartet
The first of many new products from Blue Microphones to ship in 2005 are the Kickball, a new microphone in their line of spherical mics, and the Snowball, a USB mic designed for professional recording applications.
The Kickball is reportedly the world’s second phantom-powered dynamic microphone, following in the footsteps of its cousin, the Ball. Designed to be punchy and detailed with a larger-than-life sound, the Kickball features a three-position bass frequency switch on the back of the mic, allowing three distinct low-frequency equalization curves. This circuit is based on a unique active RC filter that attenuates sub-bass (below 20Hz) frequencies and contours the low end without any noticeable phase distortion.
The Kickball can be used on virtually any instrument: kick drum, snare drum, tom toms, electric bass, bass cabinets and anywhere else one would need a rugged mic.
The Kickball is now shipping at $149.00 MSRP.
Designed for desktop recording applications, the Snowball’s universal driver and plug-and-play USB compatibility are suitable for recording into a laptop or DAW, while its dual capsule design and three-position switch dial in the desired sound for many applications.
The Snowball features a dual-capsule design, with one capsule tailored for vocals and the other for instruments. A three-position switch on the back of the mic lets you change between the capsules. The first position offers the end user a robust vocal sound, the second position delivers an open, airy detailed sound and the third position is a unique combination of both capsules, which allows for the recording of loud sound sources.
Snowball will be available in Q2 of 2005 for $139.00 MSRP.
