Amsterdam, The Netherlands (September 14, 2026)—At IBC2026 this week, DHD.audio has introduced its new MX3 console range—the third generation of its Series 52 control surfaces. Building on the original offerings of the Series 52 models, MX3 consoles incorporate new features and capabilities that address modern production workflows.

Media facilities are forever changing, whether working in new program formats or seeing studio staffs grow or shrink. In order to future-proof equipment and also make it able to accommodate unexpected changes, the MX3 console range’s system design allows new features to be added gradually by adding specific modules, rather than requiring total system replacement. With that in mind, MX3 consoles are fully compatible with DHD’s existing external digital processing cores.
Like previous Series 52 offerings, MX3’s Audio-over-IP capabilities include compatibility with AES67, Dante, Ravenna and SMPTE 2110 protocols, to handle large channel capacities. MX3’s abilities are supplemented by secure standard IP networking between desktop control panels and local or remote signal processing cores; this replaces the DHD APC (audio/power/control) protocol used in Series 52 systems.

Every MX3 module is a self-contained network device, linked via standard Ethernet with PoE+ along a single cable per console column. Consoles are assembled typically with a central module with six-fader expansion modules in a frame supplied with or without over-bridge modules, plus optional displays mounted above the over-bridge. Modules can be added, exchanged, or repaired in operation, and the assignment between console and processing core is no longer fixed.
