Miami, FL (September 25, 2026)—Mixed In Key has released Wingman 3.0, a free update to its music production plug-in that suggests chord progressions and basslines based on audio captured from a producer’s DAW.
The new 3.0 edition adds a variety of features, expanding on the plug-in’s chord-editing tools as well as adding vintage and modern guitar performances and offering a selection of genre-specific drums for users to work with.
Since Wingman suggests chord progressions based on the music currently in the producer’s DAW, Version 3.0 now provides more control over those suggestions, allowing users to rinsert passing chords between existing chords; replace individual chords and choose how frequently the harmony changes; resize, split, or remove chord regions; and audition each edit against the source audio—and it’s all done within the plug-in.

Throughout, the original audio remains unchanged; the plug-in provides musical ideas to audition against it, then edit and export back into the session as desired. As a result, users can try different ideas—new chords around a vocal, find harmony for a sample, or try a different bassline for a remix—with a minimum of effort.
Version 3.0 also adds acoustic and electric guitar performances recorded by live musicians, thus retaining the performance’s articulation and variation. The recordings adapt to the selected chord progression, so producers can hear their chord ideas played as guitar parts rather than only through a synth or piano sound.

A new Drums channel adds genre-based patterns for sections such as verses, hooks, and bridges, with separate kick and transition controls. Producers can audition patterns alongside their chord and bassline ideas and choose the elements they need. The full drum part or just individual elements can be exported for further work in the DAW.
