PowerFX, an online distributor of loops and samples, announces the release of Colour Sonics’ Grand Colour virtual instrument piano library. The library is divided into individual downloads of specific pianos. Each download includes patches for Native Instruments Kontakt Versions 1 through 2.1, and Steinberg’s HALion.
The acoustic pianos comprise the Bösendorfer 290, Steinway D, Baldwin Vertical and Yamaha C7. Each piano was recorded in Moscow by Russia’s top classical recording engineers using up to 20 different stereo dynamic levels for 40 seconds, plus release and noise layers in an acoustically tuned environment. The end results are said to offer highly accurate emulations of these legendary instruments. The Bösendorfer download is $89 and the other pianos are $59 each.
Also available for download are Colour Sonics’ Vintage Electric Pianos collection, which includes the Wurlitizer, Rhodes MKI and MKII, and Yamaha CP80 ($29 each). Each download offers multiple presets and patches for HALion and Kontakt Versions 1 through 2.1.
