Register Today, June 3, to Attend ‘Sonic Sessions’ On June 9 in New York City

On Thursday, June 9, the Recording Academy New York Chapter and the Producers & Engineers Wing, in Partnership with Harman Professional, will present “Sonic Sessions: Exploring Microphone, Signal Processing & Monitoring Techniques,” a professional development and networking event, at Guitar Center in New York City.

This special event will address various innovative techniques and technologies used in recording today. Topics discussed will include microphone types and positioning, new developments in signal processing, techniques for critical listening, and tips and tricks for streamlining workflow and productivity.

Participants include JBL Professional Senior Manager, Recording & Broadcast, Peter Chaikin; Lexicon Pro Product Specialist Casey Young; and AKG Acoustics Product Manager Joe Wagoner. Local industry professionals and artists as well as members of the Recording Academy New York Chapter and its Executive Director, Elizabeth Healy, along with Producers & Engineers Wing Senior Executive Director Maureen Droney, will be in attendance.

The event will also include a cocktail and welcome reception, hands on demonstrations, expert-led discussions, and a raffle of Harman Professional audio equipment (AKG K271 professional headphones; the Quincy Jones book, Q On Producing; and Lexicon’s PCM Native Effects bundle. The night is sponsored by Harman Professional and The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing.

The event will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern at Guitar Center in Manhattan, located at 25 W. 14th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue. The first hour comprises networking; then, breakout sessions and demonstrations will take place from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by an hour of Q&A and networking, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
