AVOX 2 includes Harmony Engine Vocal Modeling Harmony Generator, Mutotor Extreme Voice Designer, Warm Tube Saturation Generator, Aspire Aspiration Noise Processor, Articulator Vocal Formant and Amplitude Modeler, Throat Physical Modeling Vocal Designer, Duo Vocal Modeling Auto-Doubler, Choir Vocal Multiplier, Punch Vocal Impact Enhancer and Sybil Variable Frequency De-Esser.

Built around a balanced, transformer-coupled I/O, the Komit is a pro compressor/limiter in a small, affordable package. With one-knob operation, it takes the guesswork out of compressing on the fly. If needed, a three-position switch selects attack, independent of the limiter. Designed using the API standard form factor and high-reliability components, the Komit will become your go-to compressor for a wide range of timbral color with complete loudness control.

The DNS3000 combines the tactile control service of the DNS1000 with the Pro Tools (Mac/PC) integration of the DNS2000, plus more. Additional features include onboard scenes with a simple and intuitive recall system, automation, moving faders and sample rates up to 96k Hz. Near-zero latency ensures that there is no loss of lip sync, and with CEDAR’s Academy Award-winning DNS algorithm, the DNS3000 eliminates all manner of noises from recordings and live transmissions. NAB booth: N4920.

CEDAR Cambridge Version 5 and Server Pack run multiple instances of CEDAR Cambridge simultaneously to provide background processing, and print-server-style batch processing is supported locally and across a network. With its world-leading audio-restoration capabilities, audio recorder that synchronizes to external timecode, WAV file support and a BEXT metadata generator and editor, you can now choose CEDAR Cambridge as a complete ingestion and audio processing system supporting multiple users across a company or institution’s network. NAB booth: N4920.

The new DE555 de-esser, along with the FutzBox and NF575 noise filter, will be added to the McDSP Emerald Pack in early Q2 of 2008. The DE555 is a new generation of de-essing technology, providing transparent, precise de-essing with unique flexibility. Intelligent signal analysis allows the DE555 to effectively de-ess at any signal level; no manual input threshold required.

The new FutzBox, along with the DE555 de-esser and NF575 noise filter, will be added to the McDSP Emerald Pack in early Q2 of 2008. The FutzBox is a distortion and noise-generator plug-in for creating low-fidelity versions of audio signals. Typical post-productions require distorted or “futzed” versions of dialog and other tracks. Simulations of radios, cell phones and televisions are now available in a single software.

SurCode for Dolby Digital is now available as a plug-in option for AudioTools AWE. Fully licensed and certified, SurCode for Dolby Digital is a software-only Dolby Digital encoder allowing access to the full complement of professional encoding features. Users can Dolby Digital encode a single or thousands of files off-line by simply dropping them into AWE’s special “Hot Folder.” Price: $495. NAB booth: N3215.

Expanding the barriers of broadcast and game audio to 7.1, Neural-THX surround technology lets broadcasters and game developers encode 5.1 content during a live mix or post session, transmit the content in a stereo format over existing channels, and decode the original 5.1 mix through a Neural-THX Surround enabled playback device. Expanding the game audio experience to 7.1 lets gamers add two additional rear speakers, for a 360-degree listening environment. NAB booth: N2502.

The DSF-3 ($4,995) decodes SoundField mic or B-format signals to digital 5.1 surround or stereo audio (or both simultaneously) at any sample rate. Features include five-segment LED input level meters, separate signal-present and clip LEDs, and output level controls for each of the six channels in the 5.1 signal. In addition, switches are provided for selecting the virtual pickup pattern, localization and orientation of the mic without physically handling it. NAB booth: N7037.

The Tonelux V8 is a self-powered, portable Tonelux Rack with eight slots. It can power itself (90 to 250 VAC, 47 to 63 Hz), as well as an additional outboard V-Rack 16-slot rack. The V8 holds up to eight of the Tonelux Series modules, including the MP1A mic pre, EQ4P equalizer, TXC compressor, MX and FX Series input modules, CR2 control room modules and the SM2 stereo smming module. The rear of the V8 has both XLR inputs and outputs, as well as D-sub connectors. It can link its internal buses with the V-Rack Series to form larger convertible systems. NAB booth: N7039.

This solid-state design sets the standard for performance and affordability. The original unit is still considered the very best VCA compressor ever made. Unlike later monolithic IC units, the “VU” uses a series of discrete components for gain reduction, and therefore has unique nonlinearities not found in other VCA compressors. The VCA VU captures all of the sonic nuances from our “golden” modeling unit and the simple control set of the hardware, including threshold, compression (ratio) and output gain. LED threshold indicators are provided, as well the input/output/gain-change VU meter for which the unit is famous.

This is a sophisticated tool with a simple control set, primarily designed to bring dull or poorly recorded tracks to life. However, with five distinct enhancement modes, the Precision Enhancer kHz will find uses on virtually any source. It can be used to minimally massage the middle and upper frequencies of a mix, or drastically alter the presence or dynamics of individual tracks or groups. Unlike other enhancers that function by frequency delay or filtered clipping, the Precision Enhancer kHz works on specialized techniques of equalization and dynamic expansion that can be used as a highly versatile effect.

The ADP61 surround A/V preamp/decoder allows monitoring and decoding all signals from stereo to 6.1 surround audio. It offers XLR outs and an infrared remote control to quickly switch between multiple sources, such as CD and video players, DVD player/recorders or TV systems. Decoding is provided for digitally connected devices that are compatible with Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Surround EX, DTS, DTS ES, DTS ES Matrix, DTS 96/24, DTS Neo and more.
