New York, NY, November 3, 2008 – Viewers wanting up-to-the-minute presidential election coverage will not miss a beat as 3G Wireless, a leading microwave transmitter and receiver provider implementing wireless HD technology, provides ABC Network with microwave equipment from Nucomm, a brand of The Vitec Group, for three days worth of its election news. Beginning the eve of Election Day, ABC will begin its pre-presidential election news using an array of Nucomm gear and will continue using the equipment for its Election Day broadcast as well as its post election coverage on Wednesday, November 5.
To capture all of the action during this highly anticipated event, 3G Wireless is employing four of Nucomm’s 7 GHz CamPac 2 wireless camera transmitters, one 2 GHZ CamPac 2 and five Newscaster DR diversity receivers to allow for seamless comprehensive ABC coverage. The broadcast will be televised live from New York City’s ABC World News and Good Morning America studios. There will also be a crew using the Nucomm products for man on the street interviews live from Time Square.
Adam Nepp, 3G Wireless marketing director, says that Nucomm is the perfect system for working within such a demanding environment. “With ABC broadcasting from within the highly-congested New York City, the 7 GHz Nucomm CamPac 2 allows for the flexibility of using multiple frequencies in an extremely harsh RF environment.
He adds, “Because the Newscaster DR is engineered so well on the receive end, ABC can cover a very large area inside and out, using limited antenna infrastructure. Having that many camera units working side by side, the filtration on the receive end is second to none and the five cameras can work alongside one another without stepping over each other.
