AES Show AoIP Summit Coming Up Tuesday, October 13

— There’s still time to register for the AES Show AoIP Summit, coming up on Tuesday, October 13, as part of the Audio Engineering Month events series —

New York, NY, October 12, 2020 — Audio Networking and AoIP applications have marked a fundamental shift in the way we transport audio in studios and in live event production. Recording studios, broadcast studios, post-production facilities, houses of worship, both small- and large-scale venues, and remote broadcasts are incorporating networked audio into their workflow. The AES Show Fall 2020 Convention addresses these latest technologies and techniques in the AoIP Summit, taking place Tuesday, October 13, from 9:00am – 7:00pm EDT. The schedule of events includes expert panels, workshops, roundtable discussions and more from technology leaders in the field. AoIP Summit Partners include AIMS, Audinate/Dante, Digigram RME, Focusrite Pro, L-Acoustics, NTP Technology, OCA Alliance, Ravenna, and Sweetwater. Add-on registration for the AoIP Summit starts at $25 for AES members already registered for the AES Show; standalone AoIP Summit registration is also available for members and non-members alike.

The AES Show AoIP Summit will begin at 9:00am EDT with the event intro and panel discussion moderated by AIMS Audio Group Chair Terry Holton. The session “Audio Networking in Professional Audio Applications with NTP Technology” is next, with NTP’s Jan Lykke covering the transition, benefits, and challenges for all types of networked audio end users. Andreas Hildebrand, Senior Product Manager and Evangelist for RAVENNA, then leads the session “The AIMS Roadmap for Professional Media Networking Interoperability,” which will give an in-depth look at AIMS, the non-profit trade alliance that fosters the adoption of one set of common, ubiquitous, standards-based protocols for interoperability over IP in the entertainment and professional audio/video industries. Next up is an AES Show Partner Presentation by Focusrite Pro, in which Pete Tilley will take a look at current education technologies and challenges with guests Mark Beckett (Essex County School of Technology), Blair Liikala (North Texas State University), Scott Wynne (Appalachian State University), and Scott Burgess (University of Colorado, Denver). The first half of the AoIP Summit ends with Hildebrand returning for the session “RAVENNA’s Role in the current AoIP Landscape.”

“Unraveling Audio Networking: An in-depth look at Dante, AVB and MADI” is up next, with Synthax/RME’s Derek Badala looking into the advantages of each system, what they are, and how they are used, as well as answering question from attendees. Next are a pair of AES Show AoIP Partner Presentations and Q&A, first on the topic of Dante integration, followed by a presentation from Ethan Wetzell of the OCA Alliance. L-Acoustics’ Scott Sugden leads the session “AVB/MILAN for Live Sound – the L-Acoustics Approach,” which will introduce the AVB/Milan eco-system within the L-Acoustics product portfolio. The AoIP Summit concludes with a live recording session, discussion, and Q&A with the presentation “How to Record Using Dante by Sweetwater Sound,” with hosts Mike Picotte and Shawn Dealey.
