AlphaTheta, a global leader in DJ technology, and FEMME HOUSE, a nonprofit dedicated to creating more equitable opportunities in music for women, gender expansive and non-conforming, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC creators, announced the launch of a new online DJ course designed to give aspiring DJs an accessible path to learning foundational DJ skills and workflow.
Intro to DJing with AlphaTheta x FEMME HOUSE is a four-session online course for aspiring DJs ready to build practical skills and confidence behind the decks. Led by DJ, producer, and educator Gera Akate, the course covers music preparation in rekordbox, song structure, phrasing, beatmatching, cue points, transitions, effects, and energy control.
The course is built around the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4, with foundational lessons that students using the AlphaTheta DDJ-FLX2 can also follow. Students will also learn how controller-based skills translate to club-standard workflow across AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ systems.
The AlphaTheta x FEMME HOUSE partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to practical music education and resources for emerging creators.
“Learning to DJ should be exciting—not intimidating,” said LP Giobbi, Co-Founder of FEMME HOUSE. “Our mission has always been to make music education more accessible for communities that have historically been underrepresented in the industry. Partnering with AlphaTheta allows us to pair DJ technology with an educational experience that empowers students to build real skills and lasting confidence.”
The curriculum covers essential topics including:
- DJ equipment and workflow fundamentals
- Music organization and rekordbox preparation
- Beatmatching and cueing
- Song structure and phrasing
- EQ, effects, and transitions
- Track selection and energy control
- Performance preparation and club workflow
“AlphaTheta is excited to partner with FEMME HOUSE on a course that gives emerging DJs a practical and accessible path from their first mix to understanding the workflow they’ll encounter in club environments. Using the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 and rekordbox, Gera will help students build foundational skills and confidence behind the decks.” Marc B. Weinbach, Creative Director, AlphaTheta Music Americas
Since its founding, FEMME HOUSE has become one of the leading nonprofit organizations focused on increasing equity in contemporary music education. Through online courses, workshops, fellowships, and scholarships, the organization has served thousands of students across dozens of countries while helping create more inclusive pathways into the music industry.
The new DJ course expands FEMME HOUSE’s educational offerings and reinforces both organizations’ commitment to making professional music technology education available to more people regardless of experience or background.
Enrollment is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis and is now open at thisisfemmehouse.com
