Hackenbacker Gets Intimate with Suspicion and Death in ITV’s New Thriller A Mother’s Son

Award-winning facility Hackenbacker has completed the entire audio post production on A Mother’s Son, a hard-hitting thriller due to be screened by ITV1.

Starring Martin Clunes, Hermione Norris and Paul McGann, A Mother’s Son is set around the murder of a teenage schoolgirl in Suffolk and deals with various members of the community who are connected to it. At the heart of the plot lie an ordinary mother’s suspicions that her son may be capable of murder.

Rosie Haleton (Hermione Norris) plays the mother who lives with her two children, her husband Ben Harley (Martin Clunes) and his children from a previous marriage. When Rosie discovers evidence that link her son to the schoolgirl’s killing, she turns to ex-husband David (Paul McGann) for help. David follows Jamie, hoping to clear his name, but elsewhere in the family home Ben’s son Rob also has something to hide and fears grow that he, too, could be involved.

Hackenbacker was commissioned to handle the audio post production for this project by ITV Studios’ producer Colin Wratten.
Commenting on the facility’s work, Colin Wratten says: “Once again, the team at Hackenbacker delivered a sympathetic sound design very much in keeping with the brief of the show. The team created rich atmospheres and a delicately balanced mix of our multi-layered score versus the crisp dialogue. As with previous shows, the workflow was seamless. Nigel Heath and his team remain the go-to guys for a great sounding Final Mix.”

Hackenbacker founder Nigel Heath, who took charge of the final mix, adds: “It was great to be involved with this compelling drama, and we were delighted to be asked to provide the audio post for such an atmospheric and emotional piece of work. It was a joy to have Colin and director Ed Bazalgette here at Hackenbacker and we hope there is another opportunity to work with them in the future.”
Written by Chris Lang, A Mother’s Son will be screened as two 60-minute episodes on ITV1 on September 3rd and 4th, 2012.
