Lovely Lady Records, an adult contemporary and adult alternative label, has announced the November, 2013 release of classically trained and internationally acclaimed soprano Kasondra Kazanjian’s debut jazz album.

Kazanjian recorded her new album in Ocean Way’s famed Studio B. The collection of re-imagined jazz standards features performances from a diverse group of world-class musicians, including bass player Brian Bromberg, pianist Dan Siegel, percussionists Lenny Castro and Paulinho da Costa, and Mexican guitarists Julio de la Huerta and Carlos Velasco. Renowned audio engineer Rik Pekkonen captured and mixed the performances, which were recorded live in the studio.

“The album features intricate, dynamic and soaring performances with an authentic Latin vibe,” said Kevin Moraine, producer, musician and founder of Lovely Lady Records. “Kasondra combines her classical training with a natural musicality for jazz. Praised by Opera UK Magazine for her ‘stage charm and musicianship,’ Kasondra’s pure and multifaceted voice helps portray these standards in a unique and novel way.”

“The crossover to jazz is quite a departure from the operatic repertoire I studied while attending Manhattan School of Music,” remarked Kasondra Kazanjian. “It is a transition that has helped me find my niche of late.”

Kazanjian can be seen with various combos throughout Southern California singing a crossover of songs and arias. She performs regularly with guitarist Julio de la Huerta, and will sing at the San Gennaro Feast at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, May 30 through June 2nd.

Kasondra Kazanjian Bio
In 2012, Opera UK praised Kasondra Kazanjian’s “dark lyric soprano, stage charm, and the musicianship” demonstrated in her operatic debut as Helene in Die Verschworenen. Born in La Jolla, California, Kazanjian completed her Bachelor of Music at Manhattan School of Music. She has performed in Israel, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States and Italy. Kazanjian was a semi-finalist in the Junior Division at the Palm Beach Opera competition, and performed for the Metropolitan Opera Guild with scenes from Don Giovanni. Recently her diverse vocal talents have been showcased in countless venues throughout Southern California, where she has dazzled audiences with her vocal versatility and powerful interpretations.
