Over 500 Man Hours Go Into 8078 at Parlor Recording in New Orleans
Pictured at The Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans is the Neve 8078 restored by Vintage King.
Second-generation studio owner Matt Grondin recently opened The Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans. After purchasing a vintage Neve 8078 recording console, he visited Electric Lady Studios in New York City to check out their vintage Neve, which was restored by Vintage King.
“We really needed a console in New Orleans like the one at Electric Lady,” Grondin commented. Vintage King’s ace technician team, featuring Rich Hunt and Jeff Spatafora, embarked on the arduous task of a complete renovation. The overhaul on Grondin’s Neve included cleaning out wire looms, silk screening EQ panels, recapping power supplies and essentially going over everything that needed to be touched, including the installation of a Flying Faders II automation system.
For the first time, Vintage King has opened the door to their tech shop and filmed an exclusive inside look at the console restoration process. From rebuilding modules to the completed desk’s installation at The Parlor, this new video let’s the viewer see the intricate restoration process and hear from the technician crew and Matt Grondin about the journey of his exquisite Neve 8078.
