Nashville, TN (June 28, 2011)–Troy Luccketta, drummer with the band Tesla, recently implemented a Carl Tatz PhantomFocus System at his studio.
But after listening to his new PhantomFocus System (PFS) for the first time, Luccketta, a founding member of the band, turned down the monitor pot, swung away from the console and confronted Carl Tatz with a problem. “There’s a problem here, and the problem is that you’re not charging enough for this,” he joked. After that, the two spent the afternoon listening to CDs.
“It’s an old story,” says Tatz. “The Barefoots are among the finest monitors that I have implemented into a PhantomFocus System, but the before-and-after process is so dramatic, it’s almost impossible to explain until you experience it yourself. In a way, part of what the PFS does is make the speakers sound the way the speakers are supposed to sound if the room weren’t being so destructive. And I mean any room—my design or anyone else’s—and that is just for the frequency response. The PhantomFocus imaging is an entire landscape unto itself. The monitors just disappear.”
