Renwood Messenger Recording Studios (Kenosha, WI) has upgraded its Pro Tools HD2 rig to 48 I/O with the purchase of a second SSL Alpha-Link 24-channel A/D converter; also added were five Chandler Germanium mic pre’s, SSL Duende DSP, Universal Audio UAD2 and a Hear Technologies headphone system, all in preparation for tracking dates with producer/engineer Daniel Mendez (Dashboard Confessional, Don Henley, Lit) with Arrival Records artist Bascom Hill. Mendez was assisted by engineer Steve Hawkins…Recent sessions at Sear Sound (NYC) include James Farber tracking and mixing a new album for Nellie McKay with assistant Chris Allen; Scissor Sisters tracking with Allen, producer Stuart Price and assistant David Schoenweter; and Rufus Wainwright tracking/self-producing with engineer Tom Schick and assistant Schoenweter. Wainwright filled Studio C with five pianos…Adam Ayan of Gateway Mastering (Portland, ME) mastered several projects that are due out this spring. He reports that most of the following artists’ recently mastered work benefited from the use of his newly acquired Antelope Trinity Clock: Madonna, Martin Sexton, Austin’s Bridge, Martina McBride, Melissa Auf der Maur, Year Long Disaster, Kimberly Caldwell and Ashlyne Huff…Israeli rock performer Aviv Geffen visited Stratosphere Sound (NYC) in February to track songs for a new album with producer Tony Visconti and engineer Richard Wilkinson. Stratosphere co-owner James Iha played guitar on one song, as well.
