Stephen Arnold Music, a provider of original and syndicated music to the broadcasting industry, has delivered two original music packages to client CNN Headline News for that network’s newly launched three-hour nightly Headline Prime programming block. The announcement was made today by company founder and composer Stephen Arnold.
CNN Headline News’ new Headline Prime programming block marks the first time in the network’s 23 years on the air that it is making a break from airing straight newscasts. “Headline Prime” comprises three new one-hour shows, Showbiz Tonight, followed by a legal talk show Nancy Grace and Prime News Tonight, a more traditional news show.
Stephen Arnold Music has created 11 themes for Showbiz Tonight and 10 themes for Prime News Tonight. Each show has its own “sonic brand” or music logo, which is incorporated throughout.
Regarding the new music, Bill Gavin, VP, programming and production, CNN Headline News said, ”When we were preparing to launch our new Headline Prime programming block, we asked Stephen and his team to create a very distinctive package, a sound that would instantly brand the programming as something far different than our regular Headline News product, far different, in fact, than any other news programming. Stephen presented us with a package that broke into uncharted territory, heavy on sound design and telephonic voice-overs. We were thrilled with the energy, urgency and unique nature of the musical packages Stephen and his team created for the Headline Prime project and its individual shows, Showbiz Tonight and Prime News Tonight.”
