XP Sound will be showcasing the new XP202 USB audio interface (pictured) at NAMM. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the SM Pro Audio booth, # 6809.

The XP202 is an all-round USB audio interface for Mac or Windows PCs and is designed for use by today’s musicians, DJ’s, audiophiles and multimedia content developers. The XP202 is intended for recording applications like Cubase, Logic, Wavelab and Nuendo.

With simple setup, cross-platform compatibility and a multitude of connection possibilities the XP202 USB audio interface features include USB audio interface for Mac and PC, two onboard mic preamps with phantom power, stereo line input, stereo phono preamp, stereo headphone amplifier, mix/balance control (balance USB audio playback and input signal for headphones) and two parallel stereo outputs (one front, one rear)

The XP202 USB provides a unique solution to achieve high quality transfer of vinyl records and cassettes to PC. Because record players, tape recorders, microphones and many other devices operate at differing audio levels, a professional audio interface like the XP202 is required to match levels. The built in RIAA equalizer guaranties perfect processing of the incoming pick-up signals from your turntable. A ground connector is provided on the front panel for connection to your turntable.

The XP202 also features AD and DA converters, two adjustable microphone pre-amps (selectable phantom power) and a pair of stereo line inputs. Each mic preamplifier provides selectable phantom power for use with dynamic or condenser microphone signals. Instrument line level signals can be directly connected via the XP202’s stereo line input on the front panel. A stereo headphone power-amp is accessible from the front panel with an individual volume control and special Mix control. This allows users control of the monitoring balance between USB audio playback signals and the input signals from either line or mic inputs.

Being housed in a compact shielded chassis, the XP Sound XP202 audio interface is completely protected against distortion and interference from your PC. The unit powers directly from USB and offers easily accessible connection possibilities right on the front panel.

Danny Olesh. product manager from XP Sound, commented that, “By developing our new USB XP202 USB version our hugely successful original XP201 interface, users no longer have to rely on the quality of their sound card for capturing audio. With high-quality analog to digital converters and a direct USB connection, our customers can now experience performance and ease of connectivity at a new level”

The XP202 will be available in Q2 2005 for $199.
