Mexico City Gets its Metal On

Loto Audio provided sound for a double-headliner gig of Papa Roach and Good Charlotte.

Mexico City, Mexico (December 3, 2018)—Love may be the international language, but metal is probably a solid runner-up—there’s no mistaking the intent of a ferocious power chord. With that in mind, Papa Roach and Good Charlotte were greeted by thousands of fans at Knot Fest Mexico, held at the open-air gardens of the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City.

Loto Audio provided a full Funktion-One Vero sound system for the event. The system comprised hangs of three V60, two V315 and two V90 per side, plus an asymmetric configuration of eight V221 bass enclosures and four V132 sub-bass enclosures. Two F1201 speakers were used as front fill. The stage front monitor setup featured eight PSM12 wedges, with another two combining with a BR221 bass reflex speaker for drum fill and three Resolution 5s and F221s per side for side fill.

Hugo Garzon, FOH engineer for opening act, Lack of Remorse, offered, “I was impressed when they gave me the audio and we started the soundcheck. It was crazy to hear the power and clarity with which it was counted at that moment, I left very satisfied to work with such powerful audio.”

The system seemed to hit home with the promoter, Zepeda Bros., as well, which requested the system for a Cypress Hill show at the venue the following weekend.
