Alfred Music Publishing Releases ‘EpiK DrumS EDU’ DVD by Ken Scott

Alfred Music Publishing, a leader in educational print music publishing and instructional resources, releases the educational DVD EpiK DrumS EDU, in which producer/engineer Ken Scott explains how to record and mix real drum kits. The instructional resource guide is produced in association with Lawson Music Media.

EpiK DrumS EDU provides five drum grooves—running the gamut of drumming styles—as full multitrack sessions files for Cubase, Digital Performer, Logic, Pro Tools, SONAR, and Studio One, along with WAV files for every track. Audio is offered as Pro Tools sessions, fully mixed by Ken himself, as well as raw, un-mixed sessions for all six DAWs that let users compare and contrast their edited sessions against a solid model—per groove and at every step of the way.

World-renowned drummers on the project include Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa, Missing Persons), Billy Cobham (Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra), Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs, Winger), Bob Siebenberg (Supertramp), and Woody Woodmansey (David Bowie).

The interactive DVD features a video with words of wisdom from Ken Scott himself, who has worked with The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, Pink Floyd, and many other top artists. Scott also explains with intimate detail how each groove was recorded and mixed for EpiK DrumS EDU.

Bonus features include behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the drummers, providing candid insight into each session, along with 96kHz versions and further session downloads made available by the creators of the popular EpiK DrumS VST instrument, Sonic Reality.

“What’s remarkable about Ken is that he can help any artist create a unique sound that helps them stand out from the crowd, allowing them to reach their greatest potential on an album,” says Link Harnsberger, Alfred’s M.I. editor-in-chief. “By joining the Alfred author team, his talent and expertise will inspire countless engineers and producers to do the same.”
