Bass Convention Heard Through Dynacord

More than 1,000 bassists flocked to Oklahoma City University for the recent International Society of Bassists Convention, a week-long program of clinics and concerts. One of the biggest Dynacord users in the Midwest, Cory’s Audio Visual Services Inc. (OKC) supplied a combination of Cobra-2 line array TOP boxes and PWH subs, Electro-Voice monitors and mics, a Midas Verona console and Klark Teknik outboard gear for the show.

“We are really happy with how the Dynacord, E-V, Midas and K-T equipment all works and sounds together in this system,” says Preston Williams of the sound provider; Williams also mixed front of house for the ISB concerts. “We can utilize this rig in a variety of different applications, from the big ISB bass bash to a conference downtown to a rock concert in a field. We’re really confident that wherever we take this gear, we’re bringing the best possible sound available—and it all fits into the back of a small truck. Cobra’s quick setup, clarity and coverage make it unbeatable stacked or flown, and when you add a Midas console to the mix, K-T outboard gear and E-V monitors and mics, you have the best sound system for the size possible.”

With the absence of flying ability in the Kirkpatrick Auditorium at OCU, Cory’s ground-stacked the Cobra-2 TOPs on the PWH subs using wedge plates; E-V ZX1s were used as front-fills to ensure even coverage throughout the listening area, including the balcony. Powered SxA250s on sticks and E-V RE-2 wireless systems were deployed for the breakout rooms.

In addition, E-V’s RE20 microphone was used onstage with the bass crowd.
