The youth of San Pedro, Calif., can get off the street and into the studio, thanks to a state-of-the-art multimedia facility at the city’s Boys and Girls Club, which opens this month. With design, equipment specification and acoustic treatment handled by James Lawrence Design Studio in Los Angeles, the digital audio and video production facility gives kids a chance to record everything from audio CDs to news programs in 5.1.
The facility’s control room houses a Yamaha 02R96 console, a Digi 002 rack and software such as Emagic Logic Pro, Nuendo, BIAS Peak and Reason 2.5. The 5.1 room includes JBL EON and Tannoy Reveal powered monitors; Yamaha, Korg and Roland keyboards; and microphones from AKG, Shure and Audix.
