Green Lux Looks to Argosy

An Argosy G22 for Euphonix Mix desk is the centerpiece at Green Lux Studio, which is in a northern suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Dallas, TX (March 4, 2013)-An Argosy G22 for Euphonix Mix desk is the centerpiece at Green Lux Studio, which is in a northern suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

According to house engineer Jacob “Biz” Morris, “The Argosy G22 is the first thing that people look at when they walk into the studio, so it’s important to us that it’s a great-looking product that makes an impression.”

Caleb Carruth, a musician and also founder and president of Catapult, a distributor of audio content to the top international digital music stores, established the commercial production studio, which is located in a fully restored 100-year-old house in Frisco, TX.

Morris specializes in hip-hop, with credits that include projects with Lecrae, 116 Clique, Tedashii, Trip Lee and Shane & Shane, many of whom record for the Atlanta-based Reach Records label. Morris worked on the latest album by Reach Records founder Lecrae, Gravity, which held the No. 1 spots on Billboard’s Rap, Independent, Gospel and Christian charts during 2012 and won a Best Gospel Album Grammy Award. He also engineered Lecrae’s previous album, Rehab, which garnered the evangelical Christian rapper his first Grammy nomination.

The G22 desk houses every piece of audio equipment on its work surface and two 19-inch rack bays. The studio also added two pairs of Argosy Classic speaker stands for its Yamaha NS-10M and Yamaha HS-80M near field monitors.

In addition to an Apple iMac i7 running Avid Pro Tools 10 and Logic 9, and a Euphonix MC Control, the studio’s audio gear complement includes a Universal Audio Apollo interface, an 8-channel Apogee Ensemble converter/preamp, a pair of Vintech 273 preamps, four API 3124 preamps and a pair of Empirical Labs Distressors. A PreSonus Monitor Station manages control room monitoring with a Hear Technologies Hear Back system for the musicians.
