SAE New York Covers Reporter

New York, NY (June 5, 2015)—The New York City branch of SAE Institute raised its profile recently when Anna Gilligan, a reporter for local TV morning show, Good Day New York, tried singing Maroon 5’s “Sugar” in the school’s studio for head lab instructor Jordan Gutshall and lab instructor Sean Kalaras.

“Working with Anna was a lot of fun,” says Kalaras, who along with Gutshall is graduate of SAE New York. “She had a great attitude and took directions very well. Her song choice was not an easy one, but she made substantial progress during the session, and in the end, she sounded great.”

Using SAE Institute’s studio facilties and equipment, Gutshall and Kalaras recorded the vocals with a Neumann U87 microphone into a Cartec Audio PreQ-5 preamplifier and a Focusrite Red3 Compressor. The track was mixed on an SSL 4000G+ Console. Avid Pro Tools HD 11 was used to capture the performance.

Steven Kashkin, campus director of SAE Institute New York, commented, “The ability of Jordan and Sean to encourage, support, and get the best out of our audio engineering students is a huge asset for SAE New York, and Anna’s comfort in the studio was a direct result of their talents. There’s no better example of their amazing skills than the big reveal of Anna’s new and improved singing. The three of them made a great team, and I’m thrilled that Anna seemed to enjoy the experience so much.”
