Gepco International, a manufacturer and distributer of professional audio and video cables, introduces the CT504HD heavy-duty tactical Category 5e cable. A solution for portable or remote patching of Ethernet networks or digital audio/video formats utilizing CAT 5e-type cable, the CT504HD was created to meet the increased demand of audio/video professionals who need a rugged, reliable, portable and flexible cable solution. The CT504HD is intended for use with Neutrik EtherCon connectors and is also available from Gepco as pre-terminated cable assemblies.

Traditionally, electrical performance and bandwidth of conventional CAT-5 cable is degraded through physical damage. Gepco addressed this issue by utilizing a unique double jacket construction. The inner jacket of the CT504HD allows the pair to have proper physical spacing in order to achieve EIA/TIA CAT5 specifications, while the durable TPE outer jacket protects the cable from physical damage or abuse. In addition, the CT504HD utilizes stranded 24-gauge conductors that enhance the cable’s flexibility and flex-life durability.

“The concern among CAT-5 cable users in the professional audio/video industry has always been that it isn’t durable enough to handle the traditional wear and tear associated with the workload,” stated Scott Fehl, Gepco’s products development manager. “Ideally, typical CAT-5 cables should only be used in permanent installation environments because the electrical performance often suffers under constant wear. Our CT504HD was designed specifically to meet the needs of portable applications.”

The company is headquartered in Des Plaines, IL, and has a branch location in Burbank, CA; it also specializes in manufacturing custom cable assemblies, panels, patchbay harnesses and breakout boxes. Gepco stocks and distributes connectors, patchbays and other cable-related products. For more information, visit the Gepco Website at www.gepco.com.
