McDSP recently announced the release of its Channel LE, which features the Playback Head control and sound quality. Re-creating the frequency responses and compression curves from Studer, Otari, MCI, Ampex, Sony and Tascam, the Analog Channel LE enables most “reproducers” to be a menu selection away. MSRP is $195 (USD) for RTAS/AudioSuite Mac and XP, which is expected to ship November 2005.
Also in the works at McDSP is its Project Studio RTAS bundle of plug-ins, featuring EQ and compression, virtual synthesis, guitar amplification and new convolution reverb. The Project Studio bundle comprises Revolver LE (high-powered convolution reverb), FilterBank LE (which includes E4, P4 and F1 FilterBank configurations made up of powerful variable Q parametric and shelving EQ as well as resonant peak filters), CompressorBank LE (featuring emulations of the LA-2A, dbx 165, Fairchild 670, UREI 1176, Neve 33609 and more), Chrome Tone LE (including gating, distortion, compression, EQ, pre amp modeling, a cabinet simulator and spring/room reverb, Synthesizer One LE (Controls are provided for the most often adjusted parameters, and presets from top programmers are included)and a green pre-programmed iLok (plug and play). List price is $495.
Users who already own two or more of the five plug-ins included in Project Studio can upgrade to the remaining products for $195 (USD). This upgrade program will be administered through McDSP directly. The RTAS/AudioSuite is Mac-compatible only (Windows XP to come in 2006) and expected ship November 2005.
