Quad Recording Studios in New York City, newly refurbished and celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2007, has named Glenn Swan (pictured) to the post of studio manager. Swan comes to Quad from the recently closed Sony Music Studios (SMS), where he also served as studio manager. A highly skilled producer and engineer, Swan brings close to two decades of NYC studio management experience at SMS, Chung King Studios and Unique Recording Studios to Quad.
When Quad owner Ricky Hosn acquired the facility from Quad founder Lou Gonzales in 2005, he took over three of NYC’s most prolific SSL rooms. The addition of Swan continues the transformation of the complex.
“With all the changes constantly taking place in the global recording scene, there’s a lot of new guard that may not know Quad beyond the name,” says Swan. “I have the contacts, along with the hard-earned relationships, to make that difference, and I expect to do so.
“All the rooms have Pro Tools HD systems with the latest version and all the best plug-ins,” Swan continues. “I think one of our best strengths is our live room in Studio A. It’s acoustically dead-on, spacious, and has great iso booths. It doesn’t matter if it’s Celine Dion, Bon Jovi—who just came in and worked in Studio A—or the best gangsta music provided courtesy of Jim Jones, shaking the building up with the block-rockin’ beats. Quad can accommodate them all, without compromise.”
“We’re excited to add Glenn Swan as the newest asset to our team,” says Hosn. “From all his years of experience, Glenn appreciates the fact that relationships are the key component to continued success in the recording business. We’re very glad to have him at Quad.”
