Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Announce 2007 Inductees

Of the nine original nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which were announced in October, five have been chosen. The Foundation will release the names of the five inductees in a press release on January 8, 2007. The nine nominees for 2007 induction are Chic, The Dave Clark Five, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, R.E.M., The Ronettes, Patti Smith, The Stooges, Joe Tex and Van Halen.

To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year’s nominees had to release their first single no later than 1981.

Also in January, the Hall will launch its exhibit on The Vans Warped Tour, titled “Warped: 12 Years of Music, Mayhem and More,” which documents the tour and its impact. Three noted punk bands will perform at the gala kick-off ceremony on January 26, 2007 at the museum in Cleveland, Ohio: Pennywise, The Used and Paramore. Kevin Lyman, the tour’s founder, will also be on hand. The exhibit will run through September 2007.
