Sennheiser Now Shipping Evolution 602 II Microphone

Sennheiser has added the e 602 II ($289) cardioid dynamic microphone to its evolution Series. The e 602 II succeeds the e 602 and is designed for use on problematic bass signal sources, especially kick drums, bass guitar cabinets, tubas and other low-frequency instruments. The e 602 II features a rugged, lightweight aluminum housing that is more than 40 percent lighter than its predecessor, and is said to provide greater stability when positioned on a long boom arm. The capsule offers a fast attack coupled with an extended low-frequency response for sound reinforcement and recording applications.

The e 602 II features lightweight, high-performance voice coil construction and its frequency independent directivity provides isolation from other on-stage signals. The mic offers a hum-compensating coil to help eliminate electrical interference, as well as an integrated stand-mount and protective pouch.

Sennheiser is also introducing the new Kickpack II (which replaces the Kickpack; $379). The Kickpack II includes a short boom stand, 25-foot XLR cable and the e 602 II microphone.
