The Music Engineering and Technology Alliance has announced certification of the UAD-2, designed and manufactured by Universal Audio, a METAlliance Pro Partner. The alliance is working closely with manufacturers to evaluate, recognize, and certify products which meet the call for quality in the recording arts and science.

“The METAlliance is a group of distinguished gentlemen who have produced an amazing body of recorded work, including some of the finest recordings ever made,” commented Matt Ward, President of Universal Audio. “They have dedicated their lives to making music sound better, which is what we believe is our core purpose here at Universal Audio. This is why we are so pleased to be working with the METAlliance to spread the message that music is something too important to compromise on quality.”

About the UAD-2 DSP Accelerator Card
The UAD-2 is a powerful sonic upgrade for DAWs. At the heart of every UAD-2 DSP Card & Powered Plug-Ins package is the new UAD-2 PCIe DSP card with its potent Analog Devices SHARC(r) 21369 floating-point processor(s). The UAD-2 Solo/Duo/or Quad can track, mix and master to the next power at sample rates from 44.1 to 192kHz. The UA Powered Plug-Ins Collection brings the sonically revered processors from the past 50 years of audio to the computer, including vintage equalizers and compressors, superior precision mastering tools, extensive reverbs and officially licensed classic hardware emulations from Neve(r), Roland(r), SPL(r) and more.

METAlliance director Elliot Scheiner remarked, “The new UAD-2 card is unbelievably awesome, adding to some of the most outstanding software and hardware available today.” George Massenburg added, “The UAD-2 card and the UA plug-ins are a unique approach to well-designed, and broadly-supported digital software. Their plug-ins are thoroughly-tested, and their emulations are by far the best in the business.”

Frank Filipetti commented, “UAD is the first plug-in set I ever used. And until recently, it was the only plug-in set I used. The sound quality was second to none and their emulations were quite simply, amazing. Now with the UAD-2 card, they’ve raised the bar even further. With up to ten times the processing power, you can literally have a full console strip on every channel emulating some of the best gear of the past fifty years -at 1/1000th the cost.”

Chuck Ainlay explained, “Universal Audio has lead the field in developing plug-ins that match the analog equivalent on a platform that made it possible to run these power-hungry beasts without draining the processor capabilities of the host computer. Now with the UAD-2 and it’s quad Sharc (Super Harvard ARChitecture) processors I can chase any imaginable combination of plug-ins without any regard to running out of power – and we’re talking 96k sample rate on a single card.”
