RME Celebrates 20th Anniversary

From humble beginnings, company gains reputation as a leading innovator in recording interfaces

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – February 2016…Synthax, Inc., Americas distributor for RME, a leading manufacturer of high quality digital audio solutions, is pleased to announce RME’s 20th anniversary. From its 1996 start with the DAM1 (Digital Audio Monitor) and a PCI recording card, RME has blossomed into an industry leading manufacturer—and the only manufacturer—that doesn’t use third-party USB or Firewire technology in its products, preferring instead to develop its own solutions.

Today, RME offers a comprehensive range of PCI, PCI Express, FireWire, USB 2 and USB 3 interfaces, all based on self-developed interface cores, MADI interfaces, audio converters, microphone preamps, and more that enable everyone from the home recording enthusiast to leading music production studios and broadcast organizations to achieve the highest production values. Over the years, RME has earned a stellar reputation for providing equal support to users of both PC and Mac computers. RME’s Fireface UFX, UCX and 802 audio interfaces can all be connected via Firewire and USB—affording musicians and audio engineers the opportunity to work on their preferred computer platform. With RME’s rock-solid drivers, both platforms operate at very similar performance levels, providing excellent stability and extremely low latency.

Technological innovation is a core value of RME. Because the company develops its own interface cores—from PCI over PCI Express to FireWire, USB 2 and even USB 3—it is not dependent on third-party organizations for upgrades, modifications or bug fixes. Instead, RME retains full control over its product development. RME’s own self-developed Audio Cores provide maximum performance and ultra-low latency on both PC and Mac computers. RME is proud to have given the music world one of the most famous audio interfaces ever: the Hammerfall audio card with its ASIO in Hardware technology. Having unsurpassed performance at that time, it was one of the milestones establishing RME’s reputation. This continues through the present with RME being the first who delivered professional performance over USB 2, and being the first ever to use USB 3 for multichannel audio. RME’s refusal to compromise on any aspect of their product designs has resulted in a highly recognized reputation for quality, performance, and reliability.

Matthias Carstens, RME’s head of product development and company founder, commented on the company’s milestone 20-year achievement, “All of us at RME are very proud to celebrate our 20th year, because it is a reflection of the dedication and effort put forth by everyone in the organization. Our company philosophy has always been to create innovative, user friendly, and high-quality digital audio solutions. Our Audio Core and Steady Clock technologies are just two examples of our dedication to superior design. We place a high level of attention on the development of reliable, stable, and regularly updated drivers for our products and an unwavering focus on audio quality. All RME devices are designed to preserve music as it was originally intended and audio signals are passed in their entirety, with nothing added or taken away.”

RME’s Fireface 800 and Fireface 400 interfaces are recognized as being among the finest audio interfaces in the industry. These products paved the groundwork for several highly regarded subsequent company offerings, including the Fireface UFX, Fireface UCX, Fireface 802, Babyface, and Babyface Pro products. In addition to their world-class feature sets, these RME products also exhibit exceptional build quality—further assuring the company’s customers they purchased a first-rate product that will serve them reliably for years.

As part of the company’s 20th anniversary celebration, RME is offering the ‘Upgrade to RME Audio’ promotion. This special program enables one to upgrade to RME’s new Fireface 802 with a discount of 20%—a savings of $400. The Fireface 802 extends RME’s reputation for legendary performance first established by the Fireface 800. The new Fireface 802 offers 60 channels of audio, high-end microphone preamps, reference class converters, a complete effects section, and operation at up to 192 kHz among its key attributes. The promotion is only available through authorized dealers in the United States.
