STUDENTS AT LONG BEACH CITY COLLEGE GET CABLING LESSON FROM NEUTRIK USA

LONG BEACH, CA – Recording and engineering students in the Department of Music, TV and Radio at Long Beach City College (LBCC) get first-hand lessons in soldering and audio cable construction from Neutrik USA, designer and manufacturer of the X and XX series XLR cable connectors. The company has supplied several of its NC3MX and NC3FX connectors to the school for use in its ongoing Studio Maintenance course, included in the two-year program curriculum.

“It was exciting to see the students talk and show pride in their skills and craftsmanship in our recent classes, after using the newly acquired technical skills to assemble XLR microphone cables in the morning Maintenance class and then using these working cables in the Recording class later that afternoon, says Charles Gutierrez, college instructor of recording and engineering at Long Beach City College. “As the instructor, I can tell the students felt a sense of ownership and responsibility toward the equipment that was not there prior.

The donation included several of Neutrik’s most widely used products, such as its best-selling X series XLR cable connectors in both male and female mated conditions (NC3MX, NC3FX). This “industry standard” XLR cable connector is a 3 pole male/female cable connector with Nickel housing and silver contacts. It is easy to assemble with only 4 parts and no screws. It features a compact design with a sturdy die cast shell and a fiberglass reinforced hard plastic insert with chuck type strain relief for secure clamping of all cables. These connectors are designed with a rubber gland boot that gives high protection against bending stresses. Colored rings and boots are available for coding and marking.

“At Neutrik USA we value the work of educational institutions, such as LBCC, focused on the advancement of the next generation of professionals in the audio industry, says Fred Besnoff, product applications manager at Neutrik USA. “Being involved with our future and potential end users and customers, at this level, is important to our continued success. Hearing stories such as this, reiterates the value we are providing in the classroom.
