AES 131st Convention Broadcast, Streaming Sessions

AES 131st Convention Broadcast & Streaming Events Chair David Bialik

131st AES Convention Chair Jim Anderson reports that Broadcast & Streaming Sessions Chair, David Bialik (pictured) has developed a wide-ranging program of must-attend events. The 131st Audio Engineering Convention will be held in New York City’s Jacob Javits Convention Center from Thursday, October 20, through Sunday, October 23.

“Significant technical and sociological changes which impacted the broadcast industry over the past decade have affected every corner of the pro audio industry,” Anderson says. “In his 25th turn as Broadcast/Streaming Chair, David Bialik continues to deliver ‘destination’ sessions of real consequence to our attendees.”

Broadcast Streaming Events include Improving the Streaming Audience Experience, with moderator Bill Sacks of Dolby Labs; Streaming & Encoding, with moderator David Bialik; Working with Content Delivery Networks, with moderator Ray Archie of CBS; Facility Design, with moderator John Storyk of Walters-Storyk Design Group; Audio Engineering—Supporting People With Disabilities, with moderator Eric Small of Modulation Sciences; Listener Fatigue and Retention, with moderator David Wilson of CEA; FM Stereo Broadcast’s 50th Anniversary, presented by David Bialik and the AES New York Section; Television Loudness and Meta Data, with moderator Skip Pizzi of the NAB; Lip Sync Issues, with moderator Jon Abrams of Nutmeg Post; Sound Effects for The Witches Of Lublin, a Public Radio presentation, with Sue Zizza, director/ producer; David Shinn, master engineer; and SFX artists Butch D’Ambrosio, Sylvaana Pinto and Mark Wiener; Audio Processing for Radio, with moderator Steve Fluker of Cox Radio; Considerations For Facility Design, with moderator Bice Wilson; New Initiatives In Digital Audio Playback and Automation for Radio, with moderator Paul McLane, the editor in chief of Radio World magazine; and Media Files Management: Storage, Backup & Retrieval Of Your Assets, with moderator David Prentice of Dale Pro Audio.

Additionally, the AES will once again host a Society of Broadcast Engineers Certification Exam session on site at New York City’s Javits Center. AES states that it will later announce the time and location, and walk-up registration details.
