Neumann Unveils TLM 102 Large Diaphragm Condenser Mic

At the 127th AES Convention taking place through October 12 in New York City’s Javits Center, Neumann is introducing its TLM 102 (less than $900 MSRP) large diaphragm condenser microphone. The TLM 102 offers a reduced overall size and unites all of the typical design components of a Neumann microphone.

The TLM 102’s interior is a newly developed large-diaphragm cardioid capsule with a stated maximum sound pressure level of 144 dB for recording percussion, drums, amps and other loud sound sources. A slight boost above 6 kHz provides for excellent presence of the voice in the overall mix.

Wolfgang Fraissinet, President of Marketing/Sales at Neumann Berlin explains: “Due to its flexible field of application and price, the microphone will certainly be at home in ambitious home recording and project studios, as well as in the broadcasting area, particularly if priority is given to clear lines of sight to the speakers. We have recently received an increasing number of requests for this type of capability.”

The TLM 102 is available in black and nickel with a stand mount.
