Anaheim, CA (January 14, 2011)–Focusrite has premiered its VRM Box, a headphone monitoring system featuring the company’s patent-pending VRM (Virtual Reference Monitoring) technology.

According to the company, with the VRM Box, users can mix anytime, anywhere, using any monitoring headphones. The accompanying software lets the user choose a mixing environment, and the virtual speakers to monitor on. It then processes the audio before feeding it in real time to the hardware.

Built into VRM technology are models of a variety of studio monitors, including the Genelec 1031A, the KRK VXT8, the Auratone 5C and the Yamaha NS10M. VRM processing can be bypassed; an LED on the hardware illuminates when it is active.
