d&b Fills Pink Cadillac With Sound

Moscow, Russia (February 4, 2014)—The Pink Cadillac restaurant, located in the center of Moscow, provides a retro Americana dining experience, complete with dancing, dining and singing waiters. All that sound is supported by an audio system based around d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers.

The former garage-turned-dining space creates a number of acoustical challenges, which led the restaurant to hire AE Consulting to design a sound system that would fit the scene. “We faced a real challenge,” said Alexander Evstratov, AE Consulting Director General. “To neutralize the reverberation of the room and other unwanted acoustic artifacts, it required the lightest of touches architecturally speaking. To complete the fifties ambience—the owners wanted music at authentic sound levels—the need for clear sound was paramount.

“The reverberations we solved with the interior designers, selecting specific materials for the décor and adding epoxy foam behind the most troublesome areas,” he continued. “For music, we turned to sound reinforcement specialists from ARIS, in particular their project manager Denis Kolomiets. They recommend d&b audiotechnik sound systems, and an acoustic model in the d&b ArrayCalc simulation software with the d&b T-Series loudspeakers in the room looked perfect.”

The final design used T10 loudspeakers with T-SUBs flown in array.
