ETC Illuminates Russia’s Milk Music Fest

Middleton, WI (December 18, 2014)—The annual Milk Music Festival in Ufa, Russia celebrates the region’s dairy industry with a combination of music performances, rides, farm animals and more. One of the biggest draws to the festival is the open air stage, which features folk singing, dancing and musical groups throughout the day.

To help control the lighting at the stage, an ETC Cobalt 20 desk was brought in by Kilowatt Rentals and Staging. The desk controlled a rig full of moving lights, LED luminaires, audience blinders and strobe lights.

The Festival marked the first time that lighting designer Yan Prokofyev had used a Cobalt desk. ETC Console Trainer Vladimir Kraynov gave him a lesson on Cobalt’s features—including creating palettes, presets and effects—and Prokofyev was ready to light. In a small amount of time, they were able to focus and preprogram parts of the Festival’s lighting, and during the performances, Prokofyev controlled the strobes, blinders and other effects on the fly.

After Cobalt’s run at the Milk Music Festival, Kilowatt decided to expand its inventory by adding a Cobalt 10 desk to its rental stock, allowing it to provide clients with Cobalt 20 for larger events and Cobalt 10 for smaller-scale shows.
