CEntrance’s new ASIO Latency Test Utility (LTU) for Windows XP is available as a free download. Interested customers are required to register with CEntrance, after which the company will send an email with download instructions. Users who are already registered may download the LTU software from the company’s online store.
The ASIO Latency Test Utility measures the true round-trip latency in your computer’s audio setup from input to output via an ASIO driver. LTU can test different hardware, drivers and applications. LTU works by sending a short pulse through an audio interface and measuring the time it takes for the pulse to return. CEntrance states that the software is accurate within .5 milliseconds; actual latency will vary depending on hardware configuration.
LTU is compatible with any computer running Windows XP with at least one ASIO driver and corresponding hardware installed. For the duration of the test, LTU takes the place of an audio recording application.
