Cinema Audio Society Announces CAS Awards Nominations

The Cinema Audio Society in Los Angeles announces its nominees for the 46th CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for 2009 in five categories. The CAS also announces the nominees for the Sixth Annual Technical Awards for production and post-production.

In making this announcement, CAS President Edward L. Moskowitz says, “Our nominees this year reflect the best work done in film, television and DVD original programming as determined by the voting membership of the Cinema Audio Society. We are pleased to listen to the excellent quality of sound mixing work that was accomplished this past year."

The Awards will be presented at a sealed envelope dinner on Saturday, February 27 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. During this awards dinner the highest honor of the CAS, the CAS Career Achievement Award, will be presented to Re-recording Mixer/Sound Designer Randy Thom, who is Director of Sound Design at Skywalker Sound. The CAS Filmmaker Award will be presented to multifaceted stop-motion filmmaker Henry Selick.

KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin will return as Master of Ceremonies.
