Harris Corporation Brings Blue Sky Monitors to Broadcasters

Harris Corporation's broadcast communications division has chosen Blue Sky’s 5.1 monitoring systems for its initiative to help digital radio broadcasters transition to 5.1 transmissions.

Harris Corporation’s broadcast communications division has chosen Blue Sky’s 5.1 monitoring systems for its initiative to help digital radio broadcasters transition to 5.1 transmissions. Several Blue Sky ProDesk 5.1 systems have been installed at the Seattle radio station of a major national network, which will serve as the beta test site and provide an active product demonstration of 5.1 radio broadcasting.

“One of our big market pushes right now is to bring 5.1 monitoring to digital radio,” commented Jim Hauptstueck, resale products manager at Harris Corporation’s broadcast communications division. “Blue Sky monitors are specifically developed for professional-grade broadcast 5.1 monitoring. FM digital broadcasters are going to need 5.1 systems for on-air monitoring in their production facilities, and Blue Sky gives them the most accurate audio monitoring with simple controls at the most cost-effective price.”

At the Seattle-based beta test site, broadcasters will be able to see, hear and evaluate the implementation of 5.1 broadcast monitoring in a working environment. Hauptstueck also noted that Blue Sky 5.1 systems have already been installed at Harris Broadcast’s service and educational facilities in Quincy, Ill., and at the company’s training center in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the near future, Blue Sky 5.1 systems will also be installed at the Harris Corporation’s Corporate Briefing Center in Melbourne, Fla.
