Miami, FL (August 7, 2026)—With its new 2026.5 update, Boris FX‘s Sequoia DAW is adding a new Spatial Panner designed to provide broadcast, post-production, music, and live recording engineers with control over spatial mixes by keeping sources connected in multiple formats at once.
While the new Spatial Panner is intended to help users tackle immersive panning quickly using visual reference, one of its key factors is intended to help users who have to deliver mixes in multiple formats at once. “You no longer need to rebuild additional mixes from scratch,” said Patrick Donohoe, Boris FX Director of Product Marketing, Pro Audio. “One adjustment is linked across versions, while still giving users the freedom to adjust each target format individually.”

The Spatial Panner replaces tool-switching and isolated track-by-track panning with a single visual space. It supports mono, stereo, surround, and immersive 3D channel formats up to 22.2. Panning can be linked across multiple target buses, allowing one movement to update stereo, surround, and immersive mixes simultaneously. Each active source displays with individual peak meters, solo/mute, and track colors; it also features an optional 3D view to visualize placement and relationships.
Additional tools include hiding sources as needed to reduce visual clutter; placement with speaker-snap; handling of stereo sources with symmetry mode, stereo handle, and spread control; flexible source movements using rotation mode and modifiers; center divergence control; and advanced support for pan presets, Matrix mode and external VST panners.

Sequoia 2026.5 also reportedly offers speedier overall performance with real-time Waveform calculation during playback, an enhanced video engine, and improved plug-in compatibility.
