sE Electronics X1 large diaphragm condenser microphone
UK-based manufacturer sE Electronics’ X1 large diaphragm condenser microphone ($169 street) is hand built in sE’s facility in Shanghai, and offers a 10dB pad and bass cut. It promises “a new benchmark in quality of build and performance.”
The sE Project Studio Reflexion Filter ($169 street) is an entry-level product for the personal studio market that draws on the design of the company’s Reflexion Filter. The Project Studio RF uses the pro-level Reflexion Filter’s basic design but omits the multiple layers and acoustic boundaries, replacing them with the same, patented, polyester acoustic board found on the RF. The Project Studio Reflexion Filter is lined with a high grade, high density crystal foam with a unique curved ridge cut, which the company says performs far better than standard acoustic foam.
The sE X1 and Project Studio RF bundle is available for $299, while the sE2200a and Reflexion Filter Bundle is priced at $499.
