Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH is distributing a new mixing tutorial DVD-ROM series that supports users of DAWs who mix using advanced software tools. Filmed in HD quality, the two-part Internal Mixing series ($64.35 each) provides advice and tips on all aspects of mixing using Steinberg’s Cubase and Nuendo applications, and includes English, German, French and Spanish soundtracks.

With a running time of 160 minutes, Volume One covers defining the objective and the three dimensions of a mix; working with groups; compressing and equalizing groups to save CPU power; workflow; a summary of panning rules; preventing phase interference; breaking down frequency bands and their principle zones; mixing a tight bass range; basic rules of EQ; and more.

Volume Two, with a running time of 180 minutes, covers exercises with compressors; layering with reverb and delay; native and DSP-aided reverb devices; pre-delay and EQ’ing in the reverb return as design components; pre-fader versus post-fader; reverb devices; using Mute and Special FX; automation; processing single instruments; microphone tracks; refining and editing loops; EQ’ing and compressing vocals; and more.
