Steinberg Presents HALion Symphonic Orchestra

Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH announces its HALion Symphonic Orchestra VST instrument and sound library. Featuring instrument samples played by a leading European orchestra, the 27GB library offers a vast array of articulations for strings, woodwind, brass and percussion including crescendo, decrescendo, accents, half- and whole-tone trills, bowing (where applicable), portamento, pizzicato, expressivo and many more. Its 1,250 programs offer solo, ensemble and tutti sounds for almost every instrument, with programmed facilities like keyswitches and crossfades for using complex sample groups.

The RealAmbience control adds the real reverb tails of the included instruments, which were recorded live after the instrument stopped playing. HALion Symphonic Orchestra includes a range of performance optimization features from Steinberg’s award-winning HALion 3 sampler, including the advanced disk streaming system and RAMSave technology, which allows unneeded samples to be unloaded from RAM. Every one of the library’s 15,000 samples is included in both 24-bit and 16-bit versions. Many of the programs are also included as ECO versions.

HALion Symphonic Orchestra supports VST, DXi, Audio Units and ReWire for integration into Pro Tools, and can also be used in stand-alone mode. It will be available in the second quarter of 2006 for $499.99 (MSRP).
