Recording specialists Phil Tan, Elliot Scheiner and Al Schmitt will host a series of professional workshops as part of a Texas Studio Sessions series in Houston on June 22; Dallas on June 30; and Austin on July 29, 2005. Texas Studio Sessions will provide producers and engineers in with a view of the latest techniques and technology for recording and mixing. Featured presentations will include “Mixing in the Box” with Phil Tan; “Recording in 5.1 Surround” with Elliot Scheiner; and “The Art of Recording” with Al Schmitt, which will emphasize recording vocals and piano.
The Houston session will be hosted at the Rice Hotel, the Dallas session at Luminous Sound Studios and the Austin session will be held at the Austin City Limits Studio. All sessions will begin at 1 p.m. and end with a reception open to the larger music industry at 5 p.m. Sessions are $25 each for members of the Recording Academy, and $75 for non-members. Recording professionals can join the Recording Academy for one year for $100, allowing them to attend one complimentary session as well as participate in the Grammy Awards process.
