Warner/Chappell Production Music Names Randy Wachtler Its President, CEO

Warner/Chappell Production Music, Warner Music Group’s production music arm, today announced the appointment of Randy Wachtler (pictured) as President and CEO. Wachtler is based in Nashville, and will report to Cameron Strang, Chairman and CEO, Warner/Chappell Music. Wachtler replaces Randy Thornton, who has left the company.

“Randy Wachtler is a world-class music industry veteran, who founded one of the cornerstones of our production music unit,” says Strang. “Having spent more than three decades working in this field, his expertise and wide range of contacts make him the ideal person to grow this high-margin, fast-growing area of our business.”

“I’m very excited to work alongside Cameron and his very talented team once again,” Wachtler says. “It’s an honor to take the reins of one of the largest production music companies in the world and help navigate this business into the future.”

Wachtler founded renowned production music company 615 Music which, under his leadership, earned more than 70 awards for excellence in music composition including two National Emmy Awards. The company was acquired by Warner Music Group in 2010 and Wachtler was named Executive Vice President, North America, for Warner/Chappell Production Music, a post he left in January 2012. Wachtler co-founded the Production Music Association (PMA), is a board member of AIMP-Nashville (the Association of Independent Music Publishers), and has served on the boards of Leadership Music and NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences).

Warner/Chappell Production Music comprises more than 70 catalogs, including 615 Music, Non-Stop Music, Groove Addicts, Full Tilt and CPM. Collectively, the company has composed works for countless well-known TV shows, movies and companies, including Toy Story, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Bourne Legacy, the Today show, Who Wants to be A Millionaire?, ESPN, Disney, Capital One, DirecTV, Motorola, Subway, Major League Baseball, Cox Communications, SPEED TV, and Volkswagen.
